Can You Use a PopSocket With a Quad Lock Case?
Short answer: not directly. The Quad Lock mount on the back of the case sits exactly where a PopSocket® PopGrip® needs to go. Stick one on and you cover the mount. Here is what riders actually do about it.
Why it doesn't work out of the box
A QuadLock case earns its keep by having a mounting interface moulded into the back. That interface is the whole product. A PopGrip® adheres to a flat panel in the middle of the case — the same real estate. There is no arrangement where both occupy that spot, which is why you cannot simply stick a grip onto a Quad Lock case and carry on.
The two-case problem
What most riders end up with is two cases. A Quad Lock case for riding, and a normal case carrying the PopSocket® they actually picked out. Then every ride becomes a decision, and through the summer the mount usually wins — so the grip you chose spends the season in a drawer.
That is the real cost, and it is not about comfort. It is that you bought two things you like and can only use one of them at a time.
How an adapter solves it
An adapter sits on the Quad Lock mounting interface and presents a standard PopGrip® interface on its own face. Your existing PopSocket® snaps onto the adapter, the case stays on the phone, and the mount stays usable. It is a friction fit, so it pulls off in seconds when you dock and goes back on when you are walking around — no glue, no adhesive, nothing permanent.
Because it uses the standard PopGrip® interface, you keep the grip you already own rather than buying a replacement.

- Can you use a PopSocket with a Quad Lock case?
- Not directly. The Quad Lock mounting interface occupies the centre of the back of the case — the same spot a PopSocket PopGrip needs. Sticking a PopGrip straight onto the case covers the mount, so the case can no longer lock onto your bike or car mount. The way around it is an adapter that carries the PopGrip while leaving the mount usable.
- Do I have to take the Quad Lock case off to use a grip?
- That is what most riders end up doing — keeping a second case with their PopSocket on it and swapping cases depending on whether they are riding that day. An adapter removes the need to swap, because the grip and the mount coexist on the one case.
- Does the adapter stop the case from mounting?
- No. The adapter is a friction fit and comes off in seconds, so you pull it when you dock the phone and put it back when you are off the mount. There is no glue or adhesive involved and nothing permanent about it.
- Do I need to buy a new PopSocket?
- No. The adapter is designed around the standard PopSocket PopGrip interface, so it takes the PopGrip you already own — including the design you picked out. A grip can be added to the order as a convenience, but most people already have one.
- Which Quad Lock cases does it fit?
- All of them. The adapter engages the Quad Lock mounting interface itself rather than the shape of any particular phone, so it fits the whole case lineup regardless of which handset you run.
